What ways do your emotions physically manifest themselves?

Asked by FluffyChicken (5521points) April 23rd, 2011

Ever had butterfly’s in your tummy? Ever felt a pain in your chest during a deep sorrow? How about your heart skipping a beat when you see someone you love? What other ways have your emotions turned into physical sensations?

When I feel love for someone, I want to squeeze them. It’s a really strong urge. It’s either that, or I shake. This sounds weird when read, but it’s not that violent in reality.

When I’m really angry, I feel like my whole body is on fire. I literally heat up.

When I’m really happy I either cant stop moving – have heaps of energy, or shake.
When I’m upset I feel like i have no energy and can barely move or feel like there is no point to get out of bed, (depending on the reason).

When I’m worried, as I am now, it’s as if a pile of sand has taken residence in my solar plexis. I start quivering a bit, and I kiss sleep good bye. I start passing gas like crazy. My mind goes round and round, and I desperately seek more information, but can find nothing, so I imagine all kinds of horrible things. Then I start to think about how I can’t stand it if this goes on. I might even start to think my life is over. I’ll never be able to be normal again.

When I’m angry, my heart beats very quickly, and if it’s extreme I sweat and shake.

When I’m very stressed, my GI tract goes nuts, but you probably don’t want to know about that.

Well sometimes but its very rare for me.
When i get really angry i see a lot of black but it lasts for a few seconds [ though I lose control over myself in that period so I don’t really know what’s what .. i broke a wall in my home punching it a while back when i got really mad ]

When i’m happy i sometimes get chills [ this is true ]

Yes. Yep. Yes. I have also lost my hair due to divorce.

I can feel a panic/anxiety attack in my throat, and I can also taste it. It’s kind of like having a penny in my mouth.

When I get stressed over school stuff, I’m much more prone to migraines. As soon as my projects are finished, the migraines are gone.

When I first started to go out to eat by myself (I sat at the bar), I would get so nervous I didn’t want to pick anything up so people wouldn’t see how bad I’m shaking. I just felt like everyone was watching me and judging me, although of course no one cared lol.

When I’m anxious and stressed out my body feels like it tightens up, like an elastic band stretching but never relaxing again, it feels the worst at night, (or at least it’s most noticeable then). My heart also beats faster when I’m happy or see someone I’m attracted to.

Yep, all my tension goes to my neck, shoulders and upper back.
I had a conflict with someone about a month ago and noticed that I was completely torqued with a stabbing pain in my neck.

A pain in the neck? Yep, this person was, and a pain in the ass too! lol

I get twitchy, sometimes to the point of nervous tics, and lose impulse control. For someone who is somewhat hyper and high-strung even in the best of times, it can be hard on those around me to deal with. Tension headaches are pretty common, and I went two years so tense I could not turn my head simply because of stress. Its also impossible for me to swallow when I’m nervous, so I often wind up with a mouth full of saliva that I can’t do anything with.

If I get angry then I get an adrenaline surge up my spine that aches for a few hours, like I’ve been working out my abs. Sometimes I shake. If really excited then sometimes I break a sweat across my nose.

When I’m nervous or anxious I start scratching my knuckles with my fingernails. It sucks because it leaves marks, and sometimes it looks like I’ve been fistfighting a screen door.
